When you try really hard to use a different media

OIL PASTEL TRASH EXPERIMENTATION IN PROGRESS. PLEASE BEAR WITH ME.

It looks a lot better in person, in my opinion. ;v; The scanner makes it look really dark. We've worked with oil pastels in art class drawing flowers, and it was a ton of fun! So, I tried some oil pastels that I have at home (which is about 1000 years old :I), but this brand is extremely different compared to the brand that we used at school. This brand didn't like to blend; it preferred to cover things up. Handy when you are trying to fix mistakes, but not so handy when you are just trying to blend. And I know I'm not supposed to use outlines... I'd better buy myself a tortillion (blending stump) too; my finger is too fat to blend tight spaces.

This is a WIP. I plan to have a background.

Do you guys have any suggestions/techniques about oil pastels that you can share with me? Any advice/critique is welcomed!
